Ruby Rodell
UPATE 3/1/2021: Ruby has since moved to Australia to pursue a career in the medical field. We are so proud of her and wish her all the best on her next adventure, and are happy to bring on Kaylee Doeding as her replacement as of March 2021.
Ruby Rodell has been riding since the age of six, and came up through the ranks of United States Pony Clubs, where she obtained her B certification and competed in eventing, show jumping, dressage and polocrosse, bringing along her own off-the-track thoroughbred mare.
She spent a year as a working student with Olympic Eventing competitor Stephen Bradley. At Mount Holyoke College she was a member of the Varsity Equitation team and the Dressage team. Along the way she has instructed and coached at summer camps, Pony Clubs and Hunter-Jumper barns in North Carolina, Connecticut and California. Ruby competed for many years in USEA-sanctioned horse trials and Pony Club National Championships, and participated in clinics with Olympians David O’Connor, Don Sachey, Phillip Dutton and Boyd Martin.
When she’s not schooling our school horses, you can find Ruby in the ring with her private and group lessons on select days of the week. Whether you’ve never been on a horse before, are preparing for a show, or are dusting off your tall boots after some time off, Ruby’s contagious enthusiasm and diverse riding background will have you moving up the levels with a huge grin on your face.
If you like to learn the basics in an unconventional way, Ruby may be the trainer for you. It’s not unusual to see Ruby’s lesson kids holding an arm out while they balance in their two-point, or an adult rider learning to adjust their position while on a lunge line. By looking at classical horsemanship in a slightly different way, Ruby’s lessons are always fun and educational in a ways you may not expect.
